CWRU Program
Dr. White is an Associate Clinical Professor of Orthodontics at Case School of Dental Medicine and has been teaching there since 1990.
The orthodontic department at Case offers a 30-month program for students who have already graduated from dental school leading to a certificate in orthodontics as well as a master’s degree. Admission is very competitive, with students routinely selected from the top of their dental school classes. The program enjoys a well-deserved international reputation and usually has at least one international resident in each class. The original cephalometric (head) x-ray analysis and equipment used in orthodontics was developed at Case, and the Bolton-Brush Growth study including orthodontic parameters is world famous.
Patient care in the clinic is under the supervision of some of the best Cleveland-area orthodontists, but is carried out exclusively by the residents. The treatment fee for routine cases is currently (2009) about $3,000 paid in full at the beginning of treatment. Routine patient visits are with the orthodontic residents 9-12 a.m. Monday-Thursday. Visits are always scheduled for the same day of the week, with visits usually every 4-6 weeks. Visits tend to be somewhat longer than in a private practice and the treatment time and number of visits is greater.
The simple fact is that you will receive excellent care at a fee that offers a lower cost but requires more of your time.
New patients are taken primarily in the spring, but screening exams are scheduled throughout the year. The orthodontic department phone number is 216-368-3249.
If you are in Dr. White’s office on a Tuesday afternoon, you will more than likely be introduced to one of these fine young residents as they observe.
